Dear Diary: The small joys of life.

Today I bought some more flowers. They’re called Snapdragons. I’ve bought them before in the past, they are one of my favorite flowers. Of course, lilacs will always be my most favorite. :D

I love flowers. Have you ever thought about how wonderful life is, giving you this little gift of beauty? A little bright color, a small drift of scent to your nose. It’s absolutely amazing, seeing each day as it grows, the buds opening to the sun. How the green leaves raise their tips to the sky as if in praise.

Small life like this seems to be overlooked so easily, and yet at second glance, can give such joy. The world may be a dark, sorrowful place full of evil, full of unfairness. Yet the simple things in it are what balances this darkness out, the absolute wonder of it making it completely worth it.

A smile offered to a stranger, the first light at dawn coming through your window, making a new friend or lover, standing up to a fear. They all build up to something greater… the person you are. And how you deal with life.

I guess my optimism is shining through at the moment. I am quite optimistic, although I am not without common sense. I just want to be a stronger, better person. Finding yourself is quite a hard task, and without knowing who you are: establishing your boundaries, sticking up for your morals and ideals / knowing what those are, and chasing your dreams; life can get quite like a puppy in a snowstorm.

To be happy and follow the right paths in life; make the right choices, I believe that you must first find yourself. You have to be happy with who you are before you can go on and strengthen other parts of your life.

Wow, I just went from flowers to self-happiness. I guess that’s what happens when you’re tired and in mellow, content mood. Love from me, and good luck in your journey. Don’t forget to pay attention to the small details! ~Elaine.
